Evaluation - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product

If I wanted to achieve well in my media course i would need to learn how to use Photoshop efficiently and fast. Therefore i used whatever time i could to experiment and play with the programme as i never used it before and needed to get aqqainted with it. After i did this for a couple of months i finally understood how to use most of the significant tools within photoshop, what else helped me was the fact that i take Graphics AS, so i had more time to use and get used to it. In my final front cover, i was able to whiten teeth, change the brightness and contrast, place my models on different backgrounds, chaange skin tone and remove spots.

I also got used to using different media technologies, such as cameras for filming and photography, i learnt about how to transfer the films and photos onto a stick and then use them on any programme of my choice. Other equipment i learnt to use was the equipment in the studio, i learnt how to change the lighting in the room and how to make sound quality better. All of these things that i have learnt to use over time have all helped me greatly in producing my final piece to my ultimate best.

Evaluation - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

When looking back at my preliminary task, i feel as though i have progressed significantly well. I have done this by making my magazine look more appealing for my target audience, i have done this by further researching other magazines within my music genre, pop. This has majorly benefitted me when choosing the layout of my magazine and what to include within it. To create my look for my final products i chose a difficult path, i wanted to create something that was for teenagers, bit for males, this would break all conventions of a pop magazine, therefore in order to do this i looked up other magazines from other genres and try to implement their styles into my own product. This is something i wouldn't have ever felt confident in doing on my preliminary task as i wasn't independent or confident enough to do this. This therefore shows my great leap from confidence in creating my own product.

If i was to change something about my music magazine, i personally think that i would have been the colour scheme within the magazine. This is because i believe that the colour scheme doesn't make my magazine look 'pop' enough, in order to do this i think that i should have made the colours more brighter and seem to represent the younger genrations which was my target audience. Another factor i would have removed or changed would be the models that i used within my magazine, they seem basic and there isn't a lot of models in my magazine.

I think that what helped me make my final music magazine look so different and better than my preliminary task is the fact that i played around with the brightness and contrast of my images that i used this made my front cover and mainly my double page spread seem more lively and looks a lot more attractive to the audience than my preliminary task, The college magazine i created for the task seems very dull and dark and i also kept the background in which disrupted the readers attention from the text i believe. Since the start of my preliminary task to the end of my music magazine, i feel so much more confident using photoshop and the tools within it to create more elaborate pieces of work, which really stand out towards the target audience.

Final front cover for my music magazine                                                         Preliminary task

As you can see above, there is a giant different between the two. The image on the left (My music magazine front cover) you can see how i have expressed my confidence within photoshop and how bright and attractive it looks compared to the image on the right (My preliminary task). It is a lot darker and seems more moodier, you also cant see a lot of use of my skills within photoshop, all i have really done is add text on top of the background image. Compared to the right i have taken my time and effort to cut og my model from the background and make sure that the colour of his clothing contrasts with the colour of the background, therefore io made the background white.
